Fort Paletes reaches 10 years and moves ahead to Double its capacity
Fort Paletes reaches 10 years reinventing the market and prepares itself to double the production capacity within the next five years, as one of the goals for the next decade. Today´s plant capacity reaches 985.000 pallets per year, granting all the customers punctuality, quality, hygienic procedures and environmental respect.

Canozo name is deeply related to wood pallets production in Brazil, known as one of the pioneers. For decades, Canozo Madeiras was one of the largest pallets manufacturers in Brazil. For 10 years, Augusto Cesar Canozo Júnior, 35 and Marcelo Canozo, 32, experienced professionals since teens, when started working at Canozo Madeiras, founded Fort Paletes, an independent company starting a new era at Itararé.
"We´ve chosen Itararé since the city is surrounded by the largest reforestation areas in São Paulo State, and also close to the largest economic centers of South and Southeast Brazil´s”, says Augusto Cesar Canozo Jr. At that moment the two entrepreneurs built local partnerships with suppliers and logistics companies assuring the best results. "We´ve made our choice focusing costs reduction and competitiveness”, remembers Marcelo Canozo, executive ahead of the company.
At the beginning the challenges were the same of any start up company. Production capacity was not so expressive, neither the plant size: manufacturing was placed in a 500m2 area with few machines. “In order to outcome all limitations we´ve adopted the motto: we´ll grow, and to be capable of doing in the professionally, we must be quality driven! Improving our product quality, day after day; “that was our belief and our first commitment”, remembers Marcelo Canozo. Today, with 100 employees Fort Paletes produces 3.500 pallets a Day.
Reinforcing this, Augusto Cesar Canozo sons assumed another obligation, recognized by customers: Punctuality on delivery! Victor Hugo Figueiroa Soares, Prysmian Cabos e Sistemas do Brasil Ltd analyst says: “After adopting Fort Paletes as supplier, we´ve had no more quality problems. More than high patterns products, Fort Paletes assures delivery on time.
Fort Paletes is committed with environmental sustainability employing just reforested woods during manufacture. All suppliers are FSC certified, and the manufacturing plant recycles 100% of its disposals.
Fort Paletes is always ahead of competitors, when developing and exploring market trends. More than selling new equipments and maintaining used ones, Fort Fort Paletes offers a new business model where customers can rent non-returnable wood pallets. “That´s a similar model of banking leasing, offering customers a new business model”, says Marcelo Canozo.
Concerned with wood pallets industries future, Fort Paletes is affiliated to ABRAPAL (Brazilian PBR pallets manufacturers association) and its CEO, Marcelo Canozo, was recently elected association´s chairman for the second time within 6 years. The association represents the Brazilian manufacturers, preserving ethics and quality.
Investing to get better - besides ISO 9.000, under certification, Fort Paletes imported brand new machines to produce Wood pallets, increasing plant capacity from 3.500 day to 5.500 day, granting production and delivery cycle to no longer than 12 hours. The budget dedicated reaches € 1, 5 million.
